·Origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival·
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, Autumn Festival, August Festival, Moon Worship Festival, Moon Goddess Festival, Reunion Festival, or Jiyue Festival, Yueguangdan, Yuexi, Yuliang Festival in Chinese, is a traditional cultural festival in China. Customs such as offering sacrifices to the moon, appreciating the full moon, enjoying moon cakes, playing with festive lanterns, admiring the osmanthus, and drinking osmanthus wine are still popular today.
The Mid-Autumn Festival origin can be traced back to ancient times. It became popular throughout China during the Han Dynasty, took shape in early years of Tang Dynasty and prevailed after Song Dynasty. The Mid-Autumn Festival combines seasonal customs of autumn, and most ofthe festival customs involved have ancient origins.A full moon at Mid-Autumn Festival symbolizes the reunion of people. As a colorful and precious cultural heritage, the festival is a way to express people's love for their hometown and families, and also a chance to pray for harvest and happiness.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, the Spring Festival, the Qingming Festival and the Dragon Boat Festival are known as the four traditional festivals in China. Under the influence of Chinese Culture, people from countries in East Asia and Southeast Asia, especially Chinese and overseas Chinese residents also celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival as a traditional holiday. On May 20, 2006, the Mid-Autumn Festival was included in the first batch of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List by the State Council. Since 2008, it has been listed as a national statutory holiday in China.

·Rave Reviews·
HIAS students all glowed with joy and happiness when receiving their own Mid-Autumn Festival gifts. They all said that this was the best mooncake they had ever received and expressed their gratitude to the school.
Tian Youliang from School of Environment said merrily: "I can get such a gift from the teachers and fellow students of Graduate Union on such a hot day because the university cares about us. I'm proud of being a student of HIAS."
"Mooncakes are not exactly my cup of tea, but the mooncakes from HIAS are filled with concern and care for each and every one of us. HIAS is our new home," said Hu Jiaxin from the School of Life Sciences.
Chen Hang, a student from the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, is a staff member of the Rights & Interests and Volunteer Work Center. Midday heat of more than 30 degrees couldn't burn up his enthusiasm for serving other students.
"The cold air from the canteen couldn't stop me from soaking in sweat. I didn't expect it to be such an exhausting task. But when I saw the smiles of students after getting the mooncakes, I felt that everything was worth it." Students working at the Center are also freshmen, but they showed responsibility and commitment of HIAS youth with their own actions.
