On November 27, a special event titled "Little Dentist Experiencing Camp" was successfully held in the Health Education Hall of Pinghai Section of Hangzhou Stomatological Hospital.
In order to raise children's awareness of oral health and enrich the life of faculty members and their children on weekends, the trade union of HIAS worked with the Hangzhou Stomatological Hospital affiliated to the University of Science and Technology to hold this event on oral health. The event covered an interactive class for popularization of science, a knowledge quiz, a session in which the kids checked oral health problems for "patients" like dentists, a professional oral health inspection, 3D modeling based oral scanning, and issuance of certificates of completion. Some 30 members including members of the Trade Union Committee of HIAS, faculty members and their children participated in the event.
In the interactive class, doctors from Hangzhou Stomatological Hospital presented for children the structure of teeth, the growth pattern of deciduous and permanent teeth, the causes, manifestations and harm of dental caries with illustrated pictures and approachable words, and showed the Bass Method of brushing teeth with a model. The children listened carefully and answered questions eagerly, which invited bursts of laughter and applause.Then the children inspected the oral cavity for the "patients" like dentists and took 3D oral scanning. The novel form of event and fun atmosphere helped strengthen their knowledge of health.
The event was well received by all participants. In addition, in order to improve the healthcare level of teachers and students at HIAS, Hangzhou Stomatological Hospital (Pinghai Section) affiliated to the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences will provide multiple medical conveniences and privileges for them, including green channel for medical appointments, discounts for group memberships, oral examinations and popularization of science, thanks to the leaders of HIAS and Trade Union Committee for their active communication and negotiation. The move has effectively improved the convenience for and satisfaction of teachers and students when seeking medical treatment, in which the UCAS affiliated hospital functions as an example in serving teachers and students and improving the quality of on-campus healthcare.
