党健鹏

On May 17, the First Meeting of the First Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory of Systems Health Science of Zhejiang Province and the Kick-off Meeting of the Key Regional Project Supported by the Science and Technology Service Network Initiative (STS Plan) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was held at Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), UCAS.The official unveiling of the provincial key laboratory of systems health science marks an important step to respond to the national policy for creating a "Healthy China" and Zhejiang Province's call to build a leading area of science and technology innovation in Life & Health.

Participants at the meeting include Qiu Xianjie, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Cooperation Division, the Bureau of Science & Technology for Development, CAS, Xiao Gonghai, Director of the Science and Technology Cooperation Division, CAS Shanghai Branch, Chen Yong, Director of the Science and Technology Cooperation Division, Hangzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Zheng Chonghui, Executive Vice President of HIAS, Ouyang Qi, Director of the Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory and other members of the Academic Committee, and laboratory researchers.

Zheng Chonghui is delivering a speech.

Zheng Chonghui first delivered a welcome speech. Then he introduced to the participants HIAS's development in teaching and scientific research, talent training, and innovation and entrepreneurship. On behalf of HIAS, he also expressed his heartfelt thanks to CAS's departments, the CAS Shanghai Branch, the Science Technology Department of Zhejiang Province and the Hangzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau for their strong support and assistance. Zhejiang is vigorously promoting scientific and educational innovation and strove to build three major scientific innovation hubs by focusing on "Internet +", life & health and new materials, said Zheng Chonghui. HIAS, an important innovation platform of CAS in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, has the important responsibility to enhance the region's independent innovation capacity. The purpose of this meeting is to clarify the laboratory construction goals and tasks during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. HIAS will pool high-quality resources together and accelerate the coordination process to further foster new advantages of innovation-driven development. It will accumulate new momentum for rapid development, comprehensively promote the high-quality development of the laboratory, and assist Hangzhou in its efforts to build a national comprehensive science center and a regional innovation hub.

Qiu Xianjie, Xiao Gonghai and Chen Yong delivered speeches on behalf of their departments and congratulated the First Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory on the successful holding of their first meeting. Next, Zheng Chonghui issued letters of appointment to the members of the Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory and jointly unveiled the Key Laboratory of Systems Health Science of Zhejiang Province with Academician Ouyang Qi.

Director Ouyang Qi hosted the meeting of the academic committee, while Research Fellow Wu Jiarui, Director of the Key Laboratory, expounded on the laboratory construction plan to the leaders and experts present on behalf of the laboratory.According to his report, China has entered the era of big health. General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed that critical disease prevention and control should start from their sources and the focus should be shifted from disease treatment to health preservation. In 2020, the Key Laboratory of Systems Health Science of Zhejiang Province was officially included in the program for the cultivation and construction of provincial key laboratories. The key laboratory will be committed to research on health big data and targeted healthcare, a vivid embodiment of its efforts to serve the strategy of healthy China. "Chronic diseases have become the main killer endangering people's health. As a result, the key to big health, also the main strategy to fight chronic diseases, is to take relevant measures at an early stage and carry out early monitoring and intervention of people's health status outside the hospitals," said Wu Jiarui. If such a health sciences research platform is built, disease-based research will be shifted to health-based one and the traditional "fragmented" research method replaced with a systematic scientific approach. For example, an internationally advanced "human metabolic chamber" platform will be built in this laboratory. Based on it, all kinds of human body information can be quantitatively measured and completely recorded, while researchers can conduct relevant research.

The laboratory's research interests mainly lie in three aspects: lifeomicsand systemic health sciences; big data-based health monitoring and management; and individualized and targetednutrition intervention. Its goal is to become the main research base for systemic health sciences in HIAS and even the whole country, and cultivate an excellent talent team specializing in health sciences in China. It also aims to provide a range of original theories and technologies to meet the country and the region's demand for big health. In the future, the laboratory will give full play to the interdisciplinary advantages of HIAS and strive to become a national key laboratory for systemic health sciences under the concern and support of CAS, Zhejiang Province and the departments of Hangzhou Municipality.

The Academic Committee then held the kick-off meeting of the key regional project "Research and Development of Tumor Molecular Diagnostic Kits and Testing Instruments" led by Professor Wu Jiarui's Chief Lab.

Tumors have become a common malignant disease in China that seriously endangers people's life and health. Nowadays, tumor molecular diagnosis can be roughly divided into two types, namely the pathological examination of tumor tissues and the liquid biopsy based on body fluid samples. The latter makes the sample sources expanded compared with the traditional tissue biopsy and is an entry point to provide better diagnostic services for patients. The ideal tumor molecular diagnosis system is composed of kits and relevant testing instruments, requiring the integration of multiple disciplines and majors, such as life & health, chemical materials, physical photoelectricity, chip sensing, analytical control, and instruments and equipment. The "Research and Development of Tumor Molecular Diagnostic Kits and Testing Instruments" project plans to develop tumor molecular diagnostic kits based on self-developed new biomarkers and prototype-type tumor molecular diagnostic instruments by gathering CAS and Zhejiang's advantages in technological, talent and healthcare resources, with a focus on the development frontier and major needs of Zhejiang Province's health industry and an aim to meet the demand for tumor liquid biopsy. Meanwhile, when the time comes, a tumor liquid biopsy-based molecular diagnostic system where the diagnostic instruments and kits are combined to match each other will be developed to truly realize "Made in China" in the field of medical devices in China.

In November 2020, HIAS was recognized as a provincial new R&D institution. As an industry-university-research cooperation carrier in the big health industry and an important engine to promote industrial development, HIAS will build a new R&D platform based on industry-university-research cooperation for the big health-related industries in Hangzhou and even Zhejiang Province. Sci-tech innovation enterprises will be incubated on this platform to lead the development of related industries.
