On the morning of November 13, Wang Keqiang, a member of the Leading Party Members' Group and Secretary-General of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and his delegation visited the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), UCAS for an investigation. Sun Xiaoming, Director of the CAS Personnel Bureau, Wang Ying, Deputy Director of the CAS Bureau of Frontier Science and Education, Huang Tieqing, Deputy Director of the CAS Bureau of Major R&D Programs, Dong Junshe, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the UCAS, Wang Jianyu, a member of the CAS and President of HIAS, and Zheng Chonghui, Executive Vice President of HIAS accompanied the delegation and attended the symposium. The symposium was presided over by Ma Lisong, Secretary of the Party Committee of HIAS.
Wang Keqiang and his delegation visited the Taiji Laboratory, canteens, student dormitories, expert apartments, postdoctoral apartments, etc. on the spot. He highly affirmed the development of HIAS.
At the symposium, Wang Keqiang expressed his affirmation and congratulations on the achievements of HIAS in the early stage, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee and Hangzhou Municipal People's Government for their important role in the development of HIAS, and expressed his gratitude and respect to the leadership team and scientific research management team of HIAS headed by President Wang Jianyu. Wang Keqiang said that the Leading Party Members' Group of the CAS attaches great importance to and fully supports the construction and development of HIAS, and also hopes that the provincial and municipal governments can further strengthen their support. He hoped that HIAS could remain true to its original aspiration and mission of city-school cooperation, further rationalize the relationship, clarify the main body of co-construction, and aim at building a small yet high-quality new science and education institution at a high standard, featuring integrated development of science and education. HIAS should be people-oriented, respect laws, and bravely break the boundaries between science and education, industry-university-research institutes, government and scientific research institutes, and all units in HIAS. It should focus on practical difficulties and specific problems in development, reform systems and mechanisms, stimulate innovation vitality, and achieve sustainable development under the new normal, so as to become a strong support for the integration of scientific research forces of Hangzhou branches of the CAS.

Wang Keqiang pointed out that under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, we should thoroughly implement the guiding principle of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), attach great importance to party building and management, strengthen the leading role of party building in education and scientific research, improve the talent training system and standardize the daily management of students with improving the quality of graduate education as the core. We should accelerate the cultivation of a large number of high-level talents with both integrity and talents. We should pay attention to top-level planning, optimize resource allocation, continue to give full play to the advantages of technology, platform and talent, comprehensively promote the process of co-construction with Zhejiang Lab, and build HIAS into a beautiful business card for the CAS and UCAS in Zhejiang and Hangzhou.

Dong Junshe was happy and excited about what HIAS has achieved today. He said that HIAS, as a comprehensive science-education integration platform built by the CAS in Hangzhou, has unique advantages and faces great challenges. Nowadays, HIAS, which is at the key node of development, needs the strong leadership and strong support of the CAS more than ever. He hoped that HIAS would strengthen top-level design, gather effective resources, especially coordinate the strength of all parties of the CAS in Hangzhou, and make joint efforts to continuously achieve more mutually beneficial and win-win results and realize leapfrog development by giving full play to their respective advantages.

Wang Jianyu stressed that HIAS has gone from scratch and made great efforts all the way. Its progress is inseparable from the high attention and strong support of leaders of the provincial and municipal governments, the CAS, and UCAS. He hoped to give full play to the enthusiasm of city-school co-construction in the next stage and strive for greater support through provincial and municipal cooperation. HIAS should do a good job in institutional innovation. HIAS will also grasp the general trend of development, further emancipate the mind, clarify the positioning, be brave to explore, and make every effort to promote the transfer and transformation of achievements. It will make every effort to build itself into a world-class scientific and technological innovation center with Chinese characteristics.
Sun Xiaoming, Wang Ying and Huang Tieqing, leaders of the CAS, and Ma Lisong and Zheng Chonghui, leaders of HIAS, had in-depth exchanges on the current problems of HIAS and their ideas for the next construction of HIAS.
Ma Lisong said that Secretary-General Wang Keqiang and his delegation visited HIAS for investigation and guidance, which was an affirmation, concern and support for HIAS's work. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to the leaders for their valuable comments and hoped that they would continue to care for and support HIAS's construction. Ma Lisong said that HIAS will, in accordance with the requirements of the provincial and municipal governments, the CAS and UCAS, and the guiding principle of today's symposium, earnestly implement various tasks, seize the strategic development opportunities of the state supporting the co-construction of Zhejiang Lab by Zhejiang Province and the CAS. We will unite as one and work hard to promote the development of HIAS to a new level.
Zheng Chonghui made a detailed report on teaching and scientific research, faculty team building, talent training, innovation and entrepreneurship. He said that HIAS's achievements today benefited from the new era of innovation and development, the fertile land of entrepreneurship in Hangzhou and Zhejiang, the strong support of the CAS and UCAS, and the entrepreneurial team with passion and aspiration. HIAS will seize the opportunity of the construction of the Yangtze River Education Innovation Belt, and reasonably plan the scale of student training. Taking the instructions and requirements of the Leading Party Members' Group of the CAS as its mission, it will clarify tasks, perform duties and responsibilities, and play an important role in the joint construction of the Zhejiang Lab.
