Sun Xiaochun is Dean and Professor of the School of Humanities, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), and a member of the International Academy of the History of Science. He obtained his ScD from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, the US. He is a leading talent in philosophy and social sciences under the national Ten Thousand Talents Program. He is the author of The Chinese Sky During the Han (1997) and many academic papers, as well as the editor-in-chief of Astronomy Across Cultures (2000) and Science and the State in the Song Dynasty (2009), among other books. He is a member of the Executive Committees of the Division of History of Science and Technology (DHST) and the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences (CIPSH). He is now president of the Chinese Society for the History of Science and Technology (CSHST), convener of the first-grade discipline review group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council on the History of Science and Technology, and expert of the National Emerging Humanity and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education.
