Liu Xiaodong, a PhD holder, graduated from Tongji University, majoring in urban planning, and is a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Public Affairs, Zhejiang University. He was chief planner and deputy director of the Hangzhou Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources. Now, he is a member of the Party Leadership Group, deputy director and chief engineer of Hangzhou Transportation Bureau, a member of the Hangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and part-time deputy director of the Committee on Urban Construction, Population Resources and Environment. He has been engaged in the practice of urban planning and construction management in Hangzhou for nearly 30 years. He once served as deputy secretary-general of the Committee of Historical and Cultural Cities of the Chinese Society for Urban Studies (CSUS), director of the Special Committee of Famous Towns and Villages of the National Spatial Planning Society of Zhejiang Province, and chairman of the Urban Planning Society of Hangzhou.
