Yin Junfeng is a PhD holder, research fellow, and doctoral supervisor. He is the chief scientist of the Innovative Research Team for Deep Processing and Diversified Utilization of Tea of the Tea Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), deputy director of the Tea Deep Processing Committee of the China Tea Science Society, a delegate to the 14th CPC Zhejiang Provincial Congress, and a model worker of Zhejiang Province.

Specializing in the research of flavor chemistry and processing technology of tea products, he has presided over more than 20 projects, including the projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Zhejiang Provincial Outstanding Youth Foundation, the projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology for achievement transformation, and major projects of Zhejiang Province for science and technology development. He has won 4 second prizes of provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards, obtained over 50 national invention patents, published over 130 papers, including 30 SCI papers (more than 10 in top food journals), and edited 3 books. He has been selected as a first-level talent in the Zhejiang Provincial New Century "151" Talent Program and a leading talent in science and technology innovation under the Zhejiang Provincial Ten Thousand Talents Program. He has been rated as a Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions in Zhejiang Province, an Advanced Work in Agricultural Science and Technology in Zhejiang Province, and a National Outstanding Worker in Tea Science and Technology.


Introduction to the lecture:

China is the hometown of tea. The discovery and utilization of tea could date back to 5,000 years ago. It has become a daily necessity of the Chinese people and a national drink of China.

The magical, virtuous and promising tea is considered by the Chinese as a symbol of quality life and an important part of traditional Chinese culture. Learning tea culture and tasting Chinese tea has become an important medium for modern people to improve their cultural attainment and to communicate and make friends with each other.

Why do Chinese people value tea as a national drink? How has traditional tea evolved in China? What are the tea leaves in China and what are their characteristics? How to choose, make and drink tea? In the new era, tea has gone beyond a drink to show more modern qualities. What other interesting tea products are there? Yin Junfeng, a research fellow and chief scientist at the Tea Research Institute, CAAS, will lead you into the mysterious tea world.
