HIAS, UCAS Receives Support from the Hangzhou Key Scientific and Technological R&D Program

Hangzhou Institute for Advance

Recently, Hangzhou Science and Technology Bureau issued a notice on the first batch of Hangzhou Key Scientific and Technological R&D Program projects in 2021. The project named "Research and Application Demonstration for Photon Detector-based Hybrid Multi-channel Intelligent Gas Sensor" chaired byHu Weida, a research fellow of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), UCAS, was approved according to the notice.

The Hangzhou Key Scientific and Technological R&D Program covers major R&D and industrialization projects that are headed by the municipal science and technology department and included in the municipal Key Scientific and Technological R&D Program for management. The focus of this program is to support major sci-tech innovation and R&D projects in Hangzhou's advantageous and characteristic fields and emerging strategic industries, like the digital economy, the new manufacturing initiative, new-generation information technology, life health, advanced manufacturing, and new materials. Some of these projects are related to basic research on cutting-edge scientific applications, breakthroughs in major, key and core technologies, and demonstration and application of major scientific and technological achievements.

Focusing on the key area of "integration, design and manufacturing of sensors and other key components and systems" in the Made in China 2025 strategy, the project "Research and Application Demonstration for Photon Detector-based Hybrid Multi-channel Intelligent Gas Sensor" aims to provide solutions and demonstrate the functions of portable, high-sensitivity, high-stability and wide-range gas sensors. Great efforts will be made in research breakthroughs and application demonstration by targeting the major needs in the people's wellbeings and public welfare and the common technologies that need to be solved urgently. The results of the project will contribute to meeting both the important demand for future daily industrial process monitoring, pollution control, and national defense construction and the growing needs for smart homes, clean energy, and the Internet of Things.

In the past few years, HIAS had projects funded by the National Key R&D Program, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Strategic Pilot Project, the STS Regional Key Project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Zhejiang Provincial Key R&D Project. This year, it has applied for funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the gravitational wave special project group of the National Key R&D Program, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and the Outstanding Postdoctoral Research Project of Zhejiang Province. The support from the Hangzhou Key Scientific and Technological R&D Program this time marks that HIAS's successful applications have covered the projects at all levels (national, CAS, provincial, and municipal). HIAS will take this opportunity to effectively lead and support the development of scientific research. Targeting the world's cutting-edge technological areas, it will bravely scale new heights in scientific and technological innovation. By providing strong intellectual support for Zhejiang Province and Hangzhou City's socio-economic development, it will contribute to starting a new journey of the 14th Five-Year Plan.
