Recently, the evaluation results of the 2021 National Postdoctoral Program for Innovative Talent were released. Li Zhitong, a postdoctoral fellow from the School of Life Science of Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), UCAS stood out and was selected for the program. This marks another new breakthrough in the postdoctoral research of HIAS, UCAS.
Li Zhitong, male, Ph.D. graduated from the CAS Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science, joined the School of Life Science of HIAS, UCAS in December 2020 as a postdoctoral fellow (supervisor: research fellow Liu Mofang). He is mainly engaged in the functional research on regulation of the expression of coding genes in spermatogenesis by non-coding RNA, and has published six high-level research papers including Cell and Mol Cell as the co-first author.
The National Postdoctoral Program for Innovative Talent is a new support program for excellent young talents established by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China and the National Administrative Committee of Postdoctoral Researchers in 2016, aiming to accelerate the cultivation of outstanding young scientific and technological innovation talents at the world's scientific and technological frontiers. In conjunction with national laboratories and other key scientific research bases, the program aims at major national strategies, strategic high-tech and frontier fields of basic science. 400 fresh or recent PhD graduates have been selected for the program to work at postdoctoral research stations in China as postdoctoral fellows. The national average selection rate is about 10%. Each of the postdoctoral fellows will receive national subsidies of RMB 630,000 for two years, of which RMB 400,000 is used for overheads of postdoctoral research, RMB 200,000 for postdoctoral science foundation, and RMB 30,000 for international exchanges.
As the main force in the scientific and technological innovation of HIAS, UCAS, the postdoctoral scientific research group plays an important role in the construction of the talent group system of HIAS, UCAS. In the next step, HIAS, UCAS will focus on the country's critical needs and the needs of regional economic and social development to actively construct the postdoctoral talent group and implement the innovative management system and mechanism, incorporate the construction of the postdoctoral talent group into the overall planning of talent group construction by optimizing the allocation of resources, implementing the innovative management system, smoothing development channels, and improving the service system, fully exploit and give full play to the policy advantages of the postdoctoral system, and make concerted efforts to construct a small but refined talent cultivation system with a high starting point that integrates science, education, innovation and production and is adapted to new teaching and scientific research institutions.
