Good news!
Recently, the Science Technology Department of Zhejiang Province announcedthe list of30provincialkey laboratories recognized and5cultivated in 2021, including laboratories of Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), UCAS!
Two laboratories of HIAS were listed as the key laboratory cultivation objects of Zhejiang Province for the first time. They are respectively the"Key Laboratory of Systems Health Science of Zhejiang Province" and "Key Laboratory of Gravitational Wave Precision Measurement of Zhejiang Province".

With the support of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), and the approval of the UCAS President's Office Meeting in January 2020,the "Taiji Laboratory for Gravitational Wave Universe (Hangzhou)" and the "CAS Key Laboratory of Systems Biology" have been built relying on HIAS. In April of the same year, Hangzhou Science and Technology Bureau, together with the Talents Office of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee, Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Finance and Hangzhou Municipal Education Bureau (Office of Famous Teachers, Famous Head Teachers, and Famous Principals), held a laboratory review meeting in HIAS. The expert review group agreed that "the overall positioning and objectives of the two laboratory construction schemes of HIAS are clear, forward-looking and feasible. They are of great significance to promote the scientific and technological innovation and talent agglomeration in Hangzhou and enhance Hangzhou's international influence."On this basis, facing the need for scientific and technological innovation in Zhejiang Province, HIAS has further integrated resources to build the Key Laboratory of Gravitational Wave Precision Measurement of Zhejiang Province and the Key Laboratory of Systems Health Science of Zhejiang Province.
ey Laboratory of Systems Health Science of Zhejiang ProvinceDirector: Research Fellow Wu Jiarui; Director of Academic Committee: Academician Ouyang Qi
Wu Jiarui

Wu Jiarui:He is a double-employed professor of HIAS, Executive Dean of the School of Life Science of HIAS, UCAS, and Director of the CAS Key Laboratory of Systems Biology. Since 2005, he has been serving as Director of the Department of Systems Biology, University of Science and Technology of China. In 2012, he promoted the establishment of the Committee on Molecular Systems Biology of the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and served as the chairman of the first session of the committee. His research mainly adopts systems biology methods to study the molecular mechanism of the occurrence and development of major chronic diseases such as diabetes and tumors. At present, he has published more than 100 research papers in international academic journals.
Ouyang Qi

Ouyang Qi: As a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, he mainly engaged in the research of nonlinear science and the interdisciplinary science of physics and biology. He was the first person to discover 2D Turing patterns in an experimental study of nonlinear dynamics, which confirms the pattern-forming mechanism proposed by Turing in 1952. He found a series of helical wave instability phenomena and explained their mechanisms with theories. He applied nonlinear scientific methods to the study of systems biology and synthetic biology, and discovered important kinetic characteristics in the study of yeast cell cycle networks. During his study of the polar network of the drosophila node, he found that there is a strong correlation between the function, kinetic properties and topological structure of the biological regulatory network. He applied the nonlinear dynamics method to realize the contact type bio switch.
Key Laboratory of Gravitational Wave Precision Measurement of Zhejiang ProvinceDirector: Academician Wu Yueliang; Director of Academic Committee: Academician Wang Jianyu; Deputy Director of Academic Committee: Academician Cai Ronggen
Wu Yueliang

Wu Yueliang:He is a theoretical physicist, and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the World Academy of Sciences, and the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences. He is currently Director of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics Asia-Pacific of UNESCO, Director of the Academic Committee of the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Chief Scientist of the Chinese Space-borne Gravitational Wave Detection Program "Taiji". His research fields include particle physics, quantum field theory, the principle of symmetry, and cosmology. His main research interests include: CP violation, flavor symmetry gauge theory and neutrino physics, fundamental problems of quantum field theory and normalization/renormalization methods, quantum chromodynamics and quark confinement, chiral dynamics effective theory and heavy quark effective field theory, grand unified theory, topological properties of quantum field theory, gravity-gauge field duality theory, dark energy model of cosmic dark matter, etc. and achieved a series of original research results.
Wang Jianyu

Wang Jianyu:As a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, he mainly engaged in the research of space optoelectronic technology and systems. He presided over the design and development of the world's first quantum science experimental satellite system, solved many core technical problems such as beam alignment, polarization maintenance and single-photon detection in satellite-earth quantum science experiments, and ensured the completion of scientific experiments such as satellite-earth quantum key distribution, entanglement distribution and earth-satellite quantum stealth state transmission. He proposed a new detection method combining hyperspectral imaging and laser remote sensing, solved the problem of synchronous information acquisition in multi-dimensional remote sensing detection, and led the development of various hyperspectral remote sensing systems, with great benefits generated. He also proposed the space long-distance laser high-sensitivity unit and array detection method, realizing the first space application of laser remote sensing in China. He has won 2 second prizes of the State Technological Innovation Award, 1 second prize and 1 third prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 CAS Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award, and 6 first prizes of provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards.
Cai Ronggen

Cai Ronggen:He is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of the Academic Exchange Committee of the Chinese Physical Society, Director of the Division of Gravitation and Relativistic Astrophysics of the Chinese Physical Society, a council member of the International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation, Vice President of the Astrophysics, Gravity and Cosmology Division of the Association of Asia Pacific Physical Societies, and President of the BRICS Association of Gravity Astrophysics and Cosmology. He is Director of the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP), and the project leader of the Key Project of "Research on Physical Problems Related to Gravitational Waves" of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Innovative Group Project of "Particle Physics and Cosmology". His research fields are gravitational theory and cosmology. He has published more than 260 papers, which have been cited more than 15,000 times, with an h-index of 68.
As the supporting unit of the two provincial key laboratories, HIAS will strongly support the construction of laboratories, and take this opportunity to further promote the rapid development of disciplines and provide stronger scientific research strength, intellectual support and talent guarantee to serve the local economy.
Catch the Tide of the New Era, Set Sail for the Future
