Good News! Prof. Wu Jiarui's Research Group of HIAS Was Approved as a Key STS Regional Project by the Chinese Academy of Sciences!

Recently,Class A "Research and Development of Molecular Diagnostic Kit for Tumor and Testing Instrument", a key STS regional project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led byProfessor Wu Jiarui's research group of HIAS (CAS Key Laboratory of Systems Biology/Key Laboratory of Systems Health Science of Zhejiang Province), was officially approved, with the participation of the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, TraceTech Co., Ltd. (Zhejiang) and Hangzhou Dalton Biosciences Co., Ltd.

Project Research-Development-Industrial Application and Innovation Chain

At present, China has officially entered the "Big Health Era", and "Healthy China" has upgraded into a national strategy. The CPC Central Committee and the State Council have issued the "Healthy China 2030" Planning Outline. Zhejiang Province attaches great importance to the development of the health industry and has continuously issued a number of policy documents such as the Healthy Zhejiang 2030 Action Outline to support the development of the molecular diagnosis industry.

Tumors have become a common malignant disease in China, seriously affecting people's lives and health. Nowadays, molecular diagnosis of tumors can be roughly divided into two types, including pathological examination of tumor tissues and "liquid biopsy" of body fluid samples. The latter is an extension of traditional tissue biopsy in sample sources and an entry point to provide better diagnostic services for patients. The ideal system for molecular diagnosis of tumors includes kits and supporting testing instruments, which require the integration of many disciplines related to health, chemical materials, physical photoelectricity, chip sensing, analytical control, and instruments and equipment.This project plans to realize the industrialization of scientific research achievements (system transformation and application) by means of independent research and development, upgrading and transformation, and system integration through resource sharing and mutual technical assistance in combination with the advantages of Professor Wu Jiarui's research group in talents and experimental equipment and those of the groups of Dalton and TraceTech in product development and industrialization.

STS

STS, also known as Science and Technology Service Network Initiative, is an important part of the "Leading Action" plan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to promote advanced scientific research achievements and serve economic and social development. The science and technology program has been launched since 2014. STS plans to add value to a number of major scientific and technological achievements and play a demonstration and leading role in the new round of scientific and technological system reform. The approval of this project will strongly promote the group's scientific research, technology and product development, and clinical application transformation in this area.
