A delegation led by Xinqing Li, chairman of Australia Education Management Group (AEMG), visited Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), UCAS. Chonghui Zheng, executive vice president of HIAS, Yong Xie, director of the International Cooperation Office of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the heads of relevant departments and relevant personnel of HIAS attended the symposium.
At the symposium, Xie introduced the fruitful achievements made by the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in international cooperation, and the national policies on international cooperation among universities under the new circumstances. He stressed that under the combined impacts of worldwide changes of a scale unseen in a century and the global COVID-19 pandemic, the global environment is becoming increasingly complex, and facing mounting instability and uncertainties. While meeting pandemic control requirements, educational institutions should timely adjust the methods and ideas on international exchanges and cooperation among universities, explore new cooperation models, enhance friendship and mutual trust, promote common development and play a more active role.
Li gave detailed accounts of AEMG. He pointed out that AEMG is specialized in international education and cultural exchanges. Over the years, it has established cooperative relations with educational institutions and research centers in many countries and regions around the world, giving full play to the role of integrating and optimizing educational resources. AEMG has established and participated in dozens of cooperative educational institutions and programs between China and other countries in China, covering the all-round training from college preparatory program to doctoral education. Its AEMG Academy focuses on the implementation of innovative international education models, innovative practices under cross-cultural and transnational education systems, and the development of the virtual education platform: Cloud Campus, providing the students from partner universities in China with the courses of globally renowned universities as well as rich and high-quality learning resources.
Zheng appreciated AEMG, the leaders of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the International Cooperation Office for their support and assistance to HIAS in international exchanges. He said that the sudden COVID-19 outbreak has become an accelerator of changes unseen in a century. The world is undergoing profound changes under the impact of the epidemic, and international cooperation among universities is also facing many new difficulties and challenges. Both sides need to foster new opportunities amidst crises, and open up new horizons on a shifting landscape. He hoped that the two sides should gain a keen understanding of the situation, find out the breakthrough point for cooperation and work together in the same direction. Under the premise of conscientiously implementing the relevant national policies and requirements, the two sides should adopt new cooperation models, build a new pattern of international cooperation in running schools in line with the development and change of the situation, and actively meet the challenges with effective exchanges and cooperation.
