The School of Molecular Medicine follows the UCAS educational philosophy of “fusion of scientific research and teaching, collaborative education, innovation and practice, serving the society”. It’s characterized by a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach, with equal emphasis on basic research and clinical application. It aims at the major strategic objectives of the nation, focuses on the core scientific issues of molecular medicine, carries out basic research and transforming medical research oriented to clinical needs, develops accurate medical diagnosis, treatment and prevention and control methods at the molecular level. It seeks to become a molecular medicine research base with important influence at home and abroad, obtain a series of original achievements with international influence, train a group of outstanding medical talents with multi-disciplinary knowledge and innovative research ability. It strives to promote UCAS in the field of molecular medicine research to reach the international leading level, vigorously boost the development of related biomedical industry.
Three key directions for breakthrough
1.Tumor diagnosis: tumor molecular diagnosis based on novel molecular probes
2.Targeted therapy: aptamer-coupled targeted drugs
3.Macro health project: key technologies for heavy ion radiotherapy
Five key cultivation directions
1.Molecular markers and probes for major diseases
2.Tumor cell immunotherapy
3.New technology for medical molecular imaging
4.Molecular pathology and molecular mechanism of tumor
5.Artificial intelligence for medicine and disease control
Four major research centers
Center for Molecular Therapy: Research directions include the design and synthesis of tumor-targeting drugs, nucleic acid aptamer-drug conjugates, development of intelligent responsive drugs, integration of diagnosis and treatment, clinical application and industrialization of functional nucleic acid drugs.
Center for Molecular Diagnostic: Research directions include the development of highly sensitive, multi-target analytical methods based on novel molecular probes, study on the abnormal changes of protein, nucleic acid and small metabolic molecule in the process of tumorigenesis and development at the molecular level, and reveal the molecular mechanism of tumorigenesis and development.
Center for Intelligent Macro Health Engineering: to carry out heavy ion engineering, artificial intelligence, disease clinical research and transformation.
Center for Public Health Management and Governance: to actively carry out scientific research in the field of public hygiene and health, focusing on the problems faced by health reform and development.
