Research Center for Mechanism of Cell Fate Regulation
Aiming at the core theme of “mechanism of cell fate regulation”, the center summarizes the important scientific problems in each research direction. It establishes the corresponding experimental system and develops key research techniques. It seeks to reveal the important functional regulation mechanism of cell fate plasticity and its relationship with major diseases, to provide theoretical basis for new strategies of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of major diseases.
Research and Development Center for New Technologies and Methods of Cell Fate Plasticity
Based on Research Center for Mechanism of Cell Fate Regulation, new techniques and methods of cell fate plasticity research are applied and developed at the same time. In line with UCAS education philosophy of “fusion of scientific research and teaching”, facing the frontier of science and technology oriented to the plasticity of cell fate, it meets the urgent demand for the interdisciplinary talents of life health and information technology during the process of industrial upgrading of Zhejiang Province. We strive to turn it into a key laboratory at provincial and ministerial level or engineering laboratory/center during the five-year construction period.
Center for Cell Fate Transformation, Development and Application
Considering that the plasticity of cell fate runs through the major physiological and pathological life events of multicellular organisms, the study of the nature and regulation of cell life can not only solve the fundamental scientific problems of biology but also provide a theoretical basis and model for the artificial intervention of cell plasticity and even cell transformation, that is, through the reconstruction, development and application of cell fate plasticity, it provides new ideas and new tools for the effective diagnosis and treatment of major diseases such as malignant tumors, which may generate desirable economic and social benefits.
CAS Key Laboratory of Systems Biology
This laboratory is positioned in systems health science. We aim to construct and perfect an international first-class interdisciplinary research platform to acquire and analyze the “multi-omics” big data of physiology and pathology and individual health status. It focuses on basic research and application platforms geared to the major national needs of population and health, and promotes the transfer and transformation of a range of health science research results. In the recent three years, the laboratory will focus on: 1) construction of systemshealth science platform; 2) the implementation of the CAS Strategic Pilot Science and Technology Project (Category B), namely “precision health research on Chinese population driven by multidimensional big data”; and 3) construction of “Research and Development Center for Active Health Technology of the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study”.
Key Laboratory of Systems Health Science of Zhejiang Province
Based on the original “CAS Key Laboratory of Systems Biology”, Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study gathers the related innovative resources and sets up a “Key Laboratory of Systems Health Science of Zhejiang Province”. It focuses on the application-oriented research for the major national and local health needs of macro health issues. There are three main research directions: life omics research and systemshealth science research; the research of health monitoring and management based on big data; the research of individualized precise nutrition intervention. Through this research work, a series of health science research results will be transferred and transformed, while innovative talents in this emerging field of systems health science will be recruited and trained..
