As the core supporting platform of the space gravitational wave detection, Taiji program is a very important direction of high-impact scientific and technological innovation in the “1-3-5” plan of the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study. It’s a new engine that leads to important scientific discoveries and major technological breakthroughs. So far, it has won the support of the CAS Strategic Pilot Category A projects as well as the National Natural Science Foundation major projects and the State Key R&D program. In 2020,it entered the list of “Key Laboratory of Gravitational Wave Precision Measurement of Zhejiang Province”. The main task of the laboratory is to carry out the ground research on the key technology of space gravitational wave detection. Specifically, driven by the demand of space gravitational wave detection and by means of ground work, the project is intended to complete the overall scheme design and optimization of space gravitational wave detection, achieve major breakthrough in its key technology and lay solid technological ground for the next step of the space gravitational wave detection project. Within five to ten years the laboratory will, by attracting and forming an international first-class research team in the field of gravitational waves, achieve groundbreaking results in related fields, lead the direction of research and development in related fields and build a world-class gravitational wave experiment platform.
