Dr. Tang received a doctorate degree in organic chemistry from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, CAS, in 1996. Moreover, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Colorado State University and Georgetown University from 1996 to 1999. He joined the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry in 1999 and was elected to academician of the CAS in 2015. He was primarily involved in studying organometallic chemistry, whose research team used the side arm strategy to design and synthesize a series of novel catalysts to be successfully applied in asymmetric catalysis, ylide chemistry and high-performance polyolefin synthesis. Some of the patents of polyolefin catalysts were successfully transferred to industrial application. He was awarded second prize inthe NationalNatural Science Award as well as other prizes and honorary titles.
