Dr. Sun received a doctorate degree at Institute of Computing Technology, CAS, in 1999. He is the academic director of the Institute of Computer Technology, CAS, and an expert in computer system architecture. Long engaged in high-performance computer research work, he led the development of the three-generation serial high-performance computers named Dawning 2000 to the Dawning 6000, which broke the monopoly of foreign manufacturers in oil exploration and other key industries in China and is now widely used in many industries. He developed cluster memory technology and the basic theory of high-throughput computing, which made an important contribution to the development of computer-architecture technology in China. He won support from the National Outstanding Young Talents Project, four second prizes in the National Science and Technology Progress Awards as the primary author. He has published more than 160 important papers, two of which won“best paper”awards at top international conferences. He has been granted 30 invention patents, one of which won the National Patent Gold Award.
