On November 9, 2019, Bai Chunli, President and Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of CAS, inspected the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS).
At the symposium, Academician Wang Jianyu, President of the CAS Shanghai Branch and President of HIAS, made a report. He briefed on the construction progress and next moves of HIAS from aspects such as development of the organizational system and rules and regulations, construction of schools, the "135" Development Plan, integration of resources in Hangzhou, construction of the transition campus area, and "3H" talent support. Mao Xihao, Member of the Standing Committee and Director of the Organization Department of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee, thanked President Bai Chunli for his concern and support for HIAS. Then, he reported on the progress of the pilot personnel and salary management, funding arrangement, and talent support from the perspective of Hangzhou, and put forward suggestions for subsequent work.
Bai Chunli fully affirmed the phased progress made by HIAS in the "135" Development Plan, school construction, talent introduction, and construction of campus areas, and thanked the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee and Hangzhou Municipal People's Government for their strong support. Bai Chunli said that, regarding discipline construction, HIAS should make further development plans and enhance cooperation ties with undertaking institutes, regional universities and research institutions, and relevant enterprises, so as to establish complementary relations, give full play to their respective characteristics and advantages, realize coordinated development, and jointly serve local economic and social development.
Bai Chunli stressed that affiliations of CAS have set up nearly 20 partner companies, R&D centers, and other branches in Hangzhou, reflecting the inner needs of Hangzhou for scientific and technological resources. He hoped that the CAS Bureau of Science & Technology for Development and Bureau of Frontier Science and Education will provide overall coordination and support, and the CAS Shanghai Branch, UCAS and HIAS will intensify their efforts to further integrate all branches in Hangzhou to form a resultant of forces and meet Hangzhou's needs for economic and social development and scientific and technological progress.
The symposium was presided over by Dong Junshe, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of UCAS. Cao Xinan, Li Yin, Wang Ying, Qu Ronghui and Jiang Biao, leaders of the Science Technology Department of Zhejiang Province and relevant CAS affiliations, participated in the investigation as accompanying persons.
