On the afternoon of October 13, Niu Xiaoli, Vice President of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), led a delegation composed of heads of relevant departments of UCAS to the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS) for investigation, accompanied by Ma Lisong, Secretary of the Party Committee of HIAS, who also attended the symposium.

Niu Xiaoli spoke highly of the preliminary work of HIAS, especially the work related to students. After asking and learning about the problems and difficulties facing HIAS during its construction, Niu Xiaoli said that UCAS attaches great importance to the construction and development of HIAS, and will continuously adapt its way of thinking to realities, further study and discuss the countermeasures, and coordinate relevant departments as soon as possible to help HIAS solve problems in the development. She hoped that HIAS will rely on the strength of UCAS, enhance connectivity, and in particular, make full use of the online resources of UCAS such as the library and the mental health education center, to push ahead with relevant work. Niu Xiaoli stressed that ideological and political work holds an extremely important position in the establishment, operation and education of higher educational institutions In a new context, it is even more urgent to continuously explore new ways of thinking, new solutions, and new approaches, effectively promote the construction of the counselor system, pay attention to students' mental health, and strengthen employment guidance, so as to improve the level of ideological and political work in higher educational institutions.
Ma Lisong welcomed Niu Xiaoli and her delegation and briefed them on HIAS's construction progress, teaching and research groups, postgraduate training system, and future construction planning. According to Ma Lisong, HIAS has always adhered to the positioning of "a small yet high-quality institute at a high standard", and is committed to building a new teaching and research institution integrating scientific research education, innovation, and production. He hoped that UCAS will provide strong support in counselor training, library resources, Party building, and student affairs. He also stated that HIAS will maintain close ties and coordinate with UCAS to achieve further development.
Niu Xiaoli and her delegation also visited the student apartments, teaching buildings, and canteens of HIAS.
Relevant heads of the Student Affairs Department and Communist Youth League Committee of UCAS and the General Office of Party and Administration Affairs, Academic Affairs Department, Student Affairs Office, and other departments of HIAS attended the symposium.
