On the afternoon of December 22, the second meeting of the third council of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Education Foundation was held at the Yunyi Campus Area of the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), UCAS.Dong Junshe, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of UCAS and Chairman of the Education Foundation, attended and presided over the meeting. Ma Lisong, Secretary of the Party Committee of HIAS, Zheng Chonghui, Executive Vice President of HIAS, and council members, supervisors and secretary-general of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Education Foundation attended the meeting.
Dong Junshe presided over the meeting and made a concluding speech. He said that the Education Foundation had achieved remarkable results in internal governance in 2020, laying a solid foundation for the promotion of institute-level funds. In 2021, we should make new achievements and shoulder new responsibilities, continue to give full play to the advantages of science and education integration, vigorously promote the construction of institute-level funds, and effectively make the Education Foundation a public welfare platform serving the strategic integrated development of science and education of the CAS and a public welfare platform serving the development of national science and education undertakings. He hoped that, first, the Education Foundation will continue to strengthen internal governance, and at the same time enhance the promotion of institute-level funds to implement public welfare projects. Second, the Education Foundation will continuously expand its social influence and enhance its brand value as a UCAS foundation. While improving our fundraising ability, we should make good use of the donations and spread love. Third, the Education Foundation will strengthen the contact with donors and donation enterprises, enhance their participation, and let passionate people from all walks of life join us to train top-notch innovative talents for the country. Finally, he expressed his heartfelt thanks to all council members and supervisors for their support to HIAS and friends from all walks of life who care about the development of the Education Foundation! At the same time, he also hoped that all council members could pay attention to the development of HIAS and give more support to this new education unit.
Zheng Chonghui welcomed the visits of council members and supervisors of the Education Foundation and thanked them for their care, trust, and support to HIAS. He introduced the progress of HIAS's construction and the next work plan from the aspects of key work, teaching and scientific research, enrollment and training, and campus construction. Zheng Chonghui pointed out that HIAS, as a new-type teaching and research institution integrating scientific research, education, innovation, and production, cannot develop without the strong support and great help of the UCAS and local governments. He said that in the future, HIAS will continue to inherit the school-running tradition and advantages of the UCAS, adhere to the core school-running concept of science and education integration, and effectively enhance the "hematopoietic" function to stimulate endogenous power. It will accelerate the building of high-level talent teams, strengthen the effective connection between scientific and technological supply and industrial demand, and provide talent support and intellectual support for promoting national and local economic and social development. Finally, Zheng Chonghui hoped that all council members and supervisors could continue to care about and support the development of HIAS, pool their wisdom and gather their strength to jointly boost the high-quality development of HIAS to a new level.

Zhao Shuo, Secretary-General of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Education Foundation, delivered a report on the work of the Education Foundation in 2020.In his report, in close combination with the development strategy of the UCAS, he introduced in detail UCAS's situation in internal governance, donation income, public welfare project expenditure, financial matching fund application, investment and financial management income, anti-epidemic action, and brand culture construction.In addition, on behalf of the Secretariat, Zhao Shuo submitted the 2021 work plan, revenue and expenditure budget, investment plan and the revised plan of theRules of Procedure for the Investment Committee of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Education Foundation to the Council for review.
At the meeting, seven investment companies, including CAS Investment Management Co., Ltd., Beijing International Trust Co., Ltd., Beijing Zhongguancun Ronghui Financial Information Service Co., Ltd., China Foreign Economy and Trade Trust Co., Ltd., Beijing Juxin Anying Investment Management Co., Ltd., China Credit Trust Co., Ltd. and Bank of China, reported on the operation of funds entrusted by the Education Foundation in 2020. The Council affirmed the work of the investment companies and required the seven companies to further realize steady appreciation on the basis of ensuring the maintenance of the value.

After the meeting, the attendees, accompanied by Ma Lisong and Zheng Chonghui, visited HIAS's postdoctoral apartments, student dormitories, teaching buildings and other venues. Heads of HIAS General Office of Party and Administration Affairs, Student Affairs Office, Academic Affairs Department and Infrastructure Logistics Office also accompanied the attendees during their visits.
