On the afternoon of March 29, Vice Mayor Chen Guomei and her delegation visited the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), UCAS, and attended the symposium. Shen Jianping, Director of Hangzhou Municipal Education Bureau, and Cheng Huamin, Deputy Secretary General of Hangzhou Municipal People's Government accompanied the delegation and attended the symposium. Ma Lisong, Secretary of the Party Committee of HIAS, and Zheng Chonghui, Executive Vice President of HIAS, accompanied the delegation for the investigation and attended the symposium.

At the symposium, after listening to the report on the overall construction situation of HIAS, Chen Guomei fully affirmed the achievements of HIAS in all aspects since its preparation. She hoped that HIAS would thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches during his visit to Zhejiang and Hangzhou, closely focus on the national initiative of constructing world-class universities and first-class academic disciplines and the higher education strategy of the CPC Zhejiang Municipal Committee and Zhejiang Municipal People's Government, implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue and cultivating talents, highlight the characteristics and advantages of education and running schools, improve the ability to serve local areas, and provide strong intellectual support and talent guarantee for Hangzhou to build a world-famous city and Zhejiang to build an "important window". She said that the CPC Zhejiang Municipal Committee and Zhejiang Municipal People's Government would continue to give strong support to the development of HIAS.

Ma Lisong extended a warm welcome to Chen Guomei and her delegation and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the CPC Zhejiang Municipal Committee and Zhejiang Municipal People's Government for their long-term concern and support for the development of HIAS. He hoped that the CPC Zhejiang Municipal Committee and Zhejiang Municipal People's Government would continue to firmly support the development of HIAS and create good conditions for the construction of HIAS's main campus. Zheng Chonghui introduced the current overall construction situation of HIAS to Chen Guomei and her delegation from the perspectives of organizational structure, scientific research and teaching, talent training and campus construction.

Before the symposium, Chen Guomei and her delegation visited the laboratories of the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology and the School of Life and Health Sciences, and the Taiji Laboratory of HIAS.
