On January 12, 2022, the School of Environment of Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), UCAS, organized an online and offline postdoctoral outbound report defense meeting. The experts of the assessment committee, led by academician Jiang Guibin and researcher Zhang Shuzhen, listened to the working report of Dr. Li Zhigang and affirmed the research undertaken by him at the postdoctoral workstation.
Li joined the postdoctoral workstation of HIAS, UCAS, in January 2020, where he was conducting postdoctoral research in the lab of professor Yawei Wang. He is the first postdoctoral fellow recruited by the School of Environment. During his stay at the workstation, Li carried out research on the identification and generative mechanism of typical organic pollutants in the chlorination disinfection of drinking water, systematically clarifying the distribution characteristics and potential risks of typical disinfection by-products in the water environment during the COVID-19 pandemic, and providing strong data support and theoretical basis for implementing the emergent disinfection strategies of water environment in the future. His research findings were published in famousInternational Journal of Environmental Science and Technology (IJEST) in the field of environmental science; during his stay at the workstation, he was supported by the Youth Science Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the General Program of the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and won the honor of the "2020 Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow of HIAS, UCAS".Attracted by the excellent research platform provided by the School of Environment of HIAS, UCAS, Dr. Li will continue to engage in environmental science research as a research associate in the School of Environment after leaving his postdoctoral position.
Dr. Li passed the postdoctoral outbound assessment, which is a good start for the School of Environment to build a postdoctoral talent team and achieve the goal of gathering first-class innovative talent.
