On April 12, Mao Hongfang, Deputy Secretary of the Education Working Committee of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, Secretary and Director of the Party Leadership Group of the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province, visited and investigated the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), UCAS, and held discussions and exchanges. Sun Qingfeng, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Bureau of Education of Hangzhou, Ma Lisong, Secretary of the Party Committee of HIAS, Zheng Chonghui, Member of the Party Committee and Executive Vice President of HIAS, and Fang Xiaoping, Member of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee of HIAS, accompanied the group on its visit and attended the symposium.
At the symposium, after listening to the report on the development of HIAS, Mao Hongfang pointed out that although HIAS was established just over two years ago, its own advantages, characteristics and achievements were obvious to all, which can be summarized as: "high aims, clear advantages, new system, solid integration and great potential".Mao Hongfang stressed that higher education is the main force, the main platform and the main channel to "accelerate the creation of the world's important center of talents and the strategic support of the highland for innovation". By relying on the advantages of UCAS and CAS, HIAS can make use of the advantages to cooperate with UCAS and CAS on projects at a higher level, on a larger platform and with broader prospects for cooperation to mutually boost each other. The Department of Education of Zhejiang Province will provide more guidance and support to HIAS in its work and help HIAS become a new world-class teaching and research institution.
On behalf of HIAS, Ma Lisong firstly expressed a warm welcome to Mao Hongfang and his delegation. He said that the visit of the leaders of the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province reflected the care and attention to HIAS, which gave us the enthusiasm and morale to work hard, and would certainly help us develop better and faster. Ma Lisong pointed out that HIAS will always bear in mind its fundamental tasks of "fostering virtue through education and nurturing talents for the Party and the nation", and take targeted measures to make great contributions to the development of higher education in Zhejiang Province.
Zheng Chonghui reported on the development of HIAS since its establishment. He pointed out that HIAS should not only do a good job in attracting and cultivating talents but also do a good job in serving the major strategic needs of the country and the economic and social development of Hangzhou.In the future, HIAS should continue to uphold the original intention of "talent training is the core",live up to the expectations of UCAS and CAS, benchmark itself against the first-class standards, give full play to the unique advantages of "integration of science and education", and strive to be the leader in the development of higher education in Zhejiang Province.
Before the symposium, Mao Hongfang, along with his delegation, visited the Laboratory of the School of Pharmacy, Taiji Laboratory, classrooms and students' apartments of HIAS.
Persons in charge of the Planning Division and Higher Education Division of the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province, persons in charge of the Higher Education Division of the Bureau of Education of Hangzhou, and persons in charge of all relevant functional departments of HIASaccompanied the group on its visit and attended the symposium.
