Geng Chaoqiang

Geng Chaoqiang is Chief Professor, a doctoral supervisor, and Executive Dean of the School of Fundamental Physics and Mathematical Sciences.

He graduated from the Department of Modern Physics, School of Physical Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China with a bachelor's degree (1978-1982). In 1982, he was admitted to the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences as a master's degree candidate. In the same year, he won the third CUSPEA project founded by Tsung-Dao Lee to study in the United States, and studied for his doctorate at Virginia Tech from 1983 to 1987. He is the last disciple of R.E. Marshak (former President of the American Physical Society), the creator of the theory of weak interaction, one of the four major interaction forces in nature. He did postdoctoral research in TRIUMF of Canada (1987-1990), Nuclear Physics Laboratory of the University of Montreal in Canada (1990-1992), and Ames National Laboratory in Iowa State University (1992-1993). From 1993 to 2020, he worked as a professor at the National Tsing Hua University. In 2020, he began to serve as Executive Dean of the School of Fundamental Physics and Mathematical Sciences of Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study, UCAS. Professor Geng Chaoqiang specializes in theoretical particle physics, gravity and cosmology. He has published more than 300 academic research papers and has been selected among the top 100,000 scientists in the world.
