Born in 1980, Yu Chunlei was awarded Doctor of Engineering at Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2008 and started his work here in July 2008. He is mainly engaged in the research of rare-earth-doped glasses and preparation technology of high-power optical fiber materials. His research team has launched several high-power ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber products, realizing the mass preparation and industrial application of rare-earth-doped silica fibers, and meeting the application requirements of single-module fiber lasers with 1 to 10 kW output power. In addition, he presided over and participated in a number of national and local projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key R&D Program, advanced research programs, and robust industrial foundation programs. So far, he has published more than 30 SCI journal papers, served as a reviewer for many journals, and authorized more than 10 invention patents.
