
Tang Wenjun
Tang Wenjun holds a bachelor's degree in Fine Chemical Engineering from East China University of Science and Technology, a master's degree in Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Pennsylvania State University, and a postdoctoral fellow at Scripps Research Institute, USA.
He once served as senior and chief scientist in the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Boehringer Ingelheim, USA. Since 2011, he has served as a research fellow at SIOC, CAS. Engaged in green chemistry in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, he presided over and participated in the process research and scale-up of several drugs including empagliflozin, and developed a series of catalysts with unique structures. More than 80 ligands he invented have been commercialized in reagent companies at home and abroad, and many ligands have been adopted by drug and pesticide companies for industrial application. He has published more than 80 papers in internationally renowned chemical journals such asAcc. Chem. Res.,JACS, andAngew. Chem. Int. Ed., with more than 6,000 citations. He has more than 40 domestic and international patents and many patent transfers.
