Wang Xiaoming

htl

Wang Xiaoming received a Bachelor of Science degree from Zhejiang University in 2009 and a Ph.D. degree from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014. After receiving the doctoral degree, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Münster in Germany and the University of Tokyo in Japan successively. During his doctoral and postdoctoral studies, he has accumulated rich research experience in the development of new chiral ligands in asymmetric catalysis, the synthesis methodology and mechanism of transition metal catalysis, and the creation and production of functionalized polyolefins in polymer synthesis. In 2019, he joined the State Key Laboratory of Organometallic Chemistry, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences as a research fellow and project leader. His main research area is the preparation and catalytic application of new metal complexes. Taking the creation and production of homogeneous transition metal catalysts with a new structure as the research core, and through rational catalyst design, application and in-depth mechanism research, he has solved the challenging selective control problems and catalyst efficiency problems in the process of organic synthesis (including activation and conversion of small organic molecules, asymmetric catalysis, and creation and production of new polymer materials, etc.). He has won the Presidential Special Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdoctoral researchers, and the Thieme Chemistry Journals Award 2020.
