Ding Jianping

Ding Jianping received his Bachelor of Science degree from Nanjing University in January 1982, his Master of Science degree from Sun Yat-sen University in October 1984, and his Doctor of Science degree from Fudan University in October 1987. From November 1987 to June 1989, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. From July 1989 to August 1991, he won fellowships for scholars from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of the Institute of Crystallography, Freie Universität Berlin. From September 1991 to October 2000, he successively served as a research assistant, research assistant professor and research associate professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, USA. Since November 2000, he has been a research fellow and doctoral supervisor of the Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, CAS. He was supported by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2001 and selected as a national candidate for the New Century Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Project of the Ministry of Personnel in 2006. He currently holds various academic positions, including Member of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) and Academic Conference and Special Conference Committee (since 2019); Director of Asian Crystallographic Association (since 2006); Director of Chinese Crystallographic Society (since 2003), Vice Chairman of Biological Macromolecule Committee of Chinese Crystallographic Society (since 2012); Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Biophysical Society of China (since 2017); Executive Director (since 2006) and President (since 2014) of Shanghai Society of Biophysics, Chairman of Committee on Molecular Biophysics and Structural Biology (since 2006), Executive Director and Deputy Secretary-General of Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (since 2018). He has also served on the editorial boards ofActa Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica(since 2006),Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics(since 2005), andChemistry of Life(since 2006).
