Zheng Minghui

Zheng Minghui has long engaged in POPs-related research. Since 2007, he has served as the chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional Organization Committee for the Stockholm Convention’s Global POPs Monitoring. He organized and coordinated the completion of two "Asia-Pacific Regional POPs Monitoring Reports" in 2008 and 2014 by 49 signatory countries in the Asia-Pacific region. He participated in the compilation ofGlobal POPs Monitoring Technical Guidelines,Global Dioxin Pollution Source Investigation Technical GuidelinesandPOPs Emission Reduction Best Environmental Technology and Best Environmental Practice (Revised Edition). He also undertook the compilation and update of China's dioxin emission inventory, which becomes the basis for China to formulate dioxin emission reduction countermeasures.

As the convener of the environmental and health protection technology subject expert group of the "12th Five-Year Plan" 863 Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the chief scientist of the 973 Program, he has presided over many key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and international cooperation projects. He is also Director of the Chinese Chemical Society, Director of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, Deputy Director of the Environmental Chemistry Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society, Deputy Director of the Environmental Chemistry Branch of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, Deputy Editor-in-Chief ofEnvironmental Chemistry, and editorial board member ofChemosphere,Journal of Environmental Sciences,Acta Scientiae Circumstantiae, andSEPU(Chinese Journal of Chromatography). He has published more than 160 scientific research papers, including more than 130 SCI papers, and obtained 6 national invention patents. His dioxin blocking technology for incineration facilities has shown technical advantages in engineering applications. In 2011, he won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award (ranked second) and won the Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ranked second) in 2013.
